Description
Kim Ronhof has graciously released his SH4 Report generator ver. 5102.

When correctly installed it should automatically find all your saved games. Just double click on the appropriate saved game. The program then creates the patrol report and copies it to the Clipboard to paste into Word or a Text file for further editing.

JANAC Tonnage will vary according to your realism settings.

Hi Kim

Looks like a great add-on for my poor fading memory. Great to have something to look back on (or to generate accurate mission reports so i can boast about my Spectacular Results).

Anyway, I'm having a think, a small installation issue. Following your instructions, I have dropped the .exe in the 'Save Games' folder, double-clicked to 'Add GamePath', and got the configuration window, entered a number, checked all the boxes, navigated to the SH4 installation location, then clicked 'Set SH4 Path'. This is where it goes wrong.

I get a pop-up error message.
Before clicking 'Set Path', my location tree is G:\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific (highlighted), with the usual sub-folders (data, MODS etc showing beneath it). When I click 'Set SH4 Path', the tree instantly changes to:
G:/
- Silent Hunter (etc)
-- data
--- roster
---- Japan
----- Sea (which shows an 'open folder' icon)

The pop-up is headed "SH4report_5102", and reads (showing the single quotation mark):

" is not a valid integer value.
I've scanned through the contents of the 'Sea' folder, but nothing obvious leaps out at me.

I'm using SH4 1.5, with TMO, RSRDC with patch, and OTC.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Gryff

If Kim or any other modder ever sees this there are a couple of things that I would suggest:[LIST=1] - There may be what looks like an error pop-up (the " integer thing, mentioned in an earlier post) it can be ignored, the app still works fine; [LIST=2] - The generated report does not include an 'Awards:' line (another check-box anyone?); and,
  1. - The generated report does not list Patrol Start and End dates - this would be nice.

Otherwise, nice utility, especially for included torp behaviour records - great to know hits, misses, duds and pre-explosions! In a prolonged multi-target engagement, its almost impossible for me to keep track of individual torps! So, well done and thanks.

If you tick the information check dots in Kim's tool, then do a weather report every day and that will be added, all of your commands will be added, and most messages to you will be added, all with dates and times.

Save before you RTB, and then end your patrol will give a patrol end date, a weather report as soon as you depart will give you your patrol start date.

Hope that helps.

One bug I noticed:

Betty comes out as Bett
Fighter comes out as Fighte
Plane comes out as Plan

So in short aircraft kills have the last letter of what was shot down removed.

Also it lists you as in command of your first boat only, and doesn't seem to know if you get a new boat.

Other then that, its a great little program.

The following files are used:
SHReport.ini – this is a file that the program generates, if it doesn’t exit’s – the sole purpose is to save the information of the users command name and suborn number + the last patrol area.
Replayinfo.rep this file saves the name of the mission (the name you save the game under in SH4), it is used to generate the list to choose the report from.
ActiveUserPlayerUnits.upc - the name of the boat is saved here.
SaveData.clg – the ships that have been sunk are saved her with date time and location. This is where the actual information is located.
SaveData.crp – many crew remarks are saved her – the last entry date is used to generate the date of the report. The Torpedo firing data is taken from the crew remarks (ex. "Firing tube 2, sir!")
GamePlaySettings.cfg – the information of the level of realism is saved here – the program adds the % of each feature to make up the setting% = the JANAC %.
