STEP 2: (optional/recommended): Create a backup of stock DW 1.04. Create a new folder (named 'stock backup', for example) and place a copy of the stock Database, Doctrine, and Graphics folders inside it. Do this with no mods enabled (that should be obvious, but you never know...).
STEP 3: Unzip the "Mods" and "Manual" folders into C:/Program Files/Sonalysts Combat Simulations/Dangerous Waters (or whatever directory you have DW installed in)
STEP 4: Go to the folder C:/...Dangerous Waters/Graphics. Locate the files "usnidata.grp" and "usnidata.ndx". Copy these two files and paste them to C:/...Dangerous Waters/Mods/LWAMI_MOD/Graphics.
STEP 5: Return to folder C:/...Dangerous Waters/Mods/LWAMI_MOD/Graphics. Find the files "zGraphicsInstaller.bat" and "ZUSNIinstaller.bat." Run both files (one at a time).
Once both .bat's are done running, delete everything in LWAMI_MOD/Graphics except for these 4 files: 3d.grp, 3d.ndx, usnidata.grp, and usnidata.ndx.
STEP 6: Copy the files "3d.grp", "3d.ndx", "usnidata.grp", and "usnidata.ndx" and paste them to C:/...Dangerous Waters/Mods/LWAMI_MOD_APAD/Graphics.
And that's all there is to it. Step 3 installed the mod itself, and steps 4 and 5 updated added new 3D models and USNI Database entries. The mod can now be enabled from the JSGME or by copying the Database, Doctrine, and Graphics folders from Mods/LWAMI_Mod (or ...APAD) to the Dangerous Waters folder.
One last note for users who like to do things manually: The LWAMI mod quite literally IS the Database and Doctrine folders. You can swap out this mod with other mod versions or the stock game without JSGME just by copying the Database and Doctrine folders of the version you want and pasting them to the Dangerous Waters folder. As for the Graphics folder, there isn't much harm in leaving the LWAMI Graphics folder in Dangerous Waters all the time, even when you're playing stock DW. Copying the Graphics folder (either manually or with JSGME) can take awhile, so this can be a time saver if you change versions frequently. Some models in stock DW will appear as the LWAMI models (e.g., the ESSM), and you'll have the LWAMI USNI Database, but the sim will otherwise run normally.

OK, somehow I think I managed to install it manually though I get an error message when the game tries to load the very first screen (only part of the version number is visible).
"ERROR 12010 bit map failed to load"
Otherwise it seems to be working ok. Gonna play around with it and see what I find. What prompted me to install 3.10 was the fact that the "Gulf breakout" mission was giving me lots of problems. For starters my #1 helo would more often than not just fly itself into the water after dipping the sonar and being given engage orders, and both helo's semmed to mostly ignore the nav map "engage with" commands.
I had the same issue and all I did was reload DW straight to my "C:\"drive instead of the default "C:/Program Files/Sonalysts Combat Simulations/Dangerous Waters.....blah blah... and it worked..
C:\ Dangerous waters
Thats all it says.
My buddy had the same issue and I got him working too
