Are you trying to download my stuff? The files at FF are all listed by name. So there shouldn't be a problem finding what you want there.

As for silenthuntermods.com, while the registration is a bit convoluted, it does work. Do you have cookies enabled? If not, that will definitely prevent your registration from being saved.

Subsim has a finely functioning mods section, populated by hundreds of mods organized by game, function and author. For virtually all purposes, there is no need to go elsewhere.

What exactly is the filefront issue? What's confusing?

What's confusing?

well the first thing i thought when i looked at it was there is no clear seperation in the lists for which are v1.4 and which are v1.5 mods because both are still needed and its an important distinction

it might be easier on the eyes if it were broken into catagories like "super mods and their patches" then "stand alone mods" and "sh4 missions"

Are you talking about here:

http://silenthunter.filefront.com/

Cause they do have categories there. If you're talking about the "regular" FF, yeah when they restarted it they took out the ability to put in descriptions. All you get is the file.

Course to be honest, in the old days it seemed like I was just about the only person on FF who ever used the descriptions anyway. ;)

I suppose I could make a subcatagory in TMO and such for 1.4. It is kinda confusing when you look at all the file types to try and figure out which ones you need, however, there are file descriptions on each. The main confusion is all the stuff with the RFB and RSRDC versions for TMO, then they each have their own patches...so I kinda agree it's confusing, but I don't think it's any more so than any where else as when I tried to find out how to install tmo I checked threads here and at ubi and got 3 different install oders, with different file names, some not available, and some threads that were many many pages long (too many for anyone to reasonably expect someone to actualy sit down and read) and none of these 3 threads agreed with one another.

I think perhaps further deviding sub catagories might be the best way.

what im talking about is the main page has the most popular mods lists but "that" can be confusing especially to those unfamiliar with the mods.

my suggestion would be to swap them so that the catagories get top billing on the main page and you make catagories for both versions 1.4 and 1.5 listed together but seperated so its not confusing and then put the most often downloaded and top 50 section links at the bottom.

i realise its still a WIP and some catagoriues are still empty but thats just my opinion on the most user friendly setup

As owner of SHMF, I would like to add my comments here...

I see your name in the membership list at SHMF, so I see that you managed to get there by now.

About downloads: only mods containing music are for members only, plus a few of my own just to arouse curiosity to become member... hehe
But basically all the rest, and that is quite many or rather quite large mods, are actually available for guests too.

Hey... are you saying that I do the community a bad service here? I'm well aware that subsim is way more popular than SHMF, but with SHMF I try to offer both hosting of mods plus a multi-language Silent Hunter forum, and it's not only SH3 or SH4, not only PTO or ATO. Everything Silent Hunter related is at focus.

Thanks for unlocking it. It's Carotio btw, not corotio.

If any problems, I have actually made both a SH4 thread and a SH5 thread for SHMF, where any other having questions may ask for help in the future.
SH4 subsim thread:

SH5 subsim thread:

Maybe these two threads could be added in each their section of the useful links sticky threads? Under the category :
Many More Mods Can Be Found Here
