"North Sea, in the Skagerrak and Kattegat, Straits of Gibraltar, Gulf Stream, near mouth of rivers"

Sounds quite relevant to me, ..i mean that info is from a Kriegsmarine Kadetten HAndbuch.

Missions in Bergen etc come to mind and the North sea ,well sounds like the region you could occasionally encounter some subs.

I noticed that on patrols off the coast of Africa, destroyers lose me faster and easier then it was in North Atlantic. Is this related to the thermal layers? Hope so.

what is the weather when you see this behaviour?
if the winds are 10 m/s or greater, that will be a factor.

yes, windy was there (not remember about m/s), but I didn't know that was a factor, thanks.
Now, in winter Arctic convoys, I can’t get away from the DD at all, even with the Tarnmatte coating, at depths of more than 100 I was pinged and killed. Now I have to attack convoys not from the inside, but 4-6 km from the center line. I'm afraid to imagine what awaits in 1944

Speaking of wind, can I increase the maximum wind to 20? I found an option in GenericPatcher that makes the wind possible up to 60, but this seems like overkill to me, I would increase it to 20-30, for example.

it might be possible to increase wind speed greater than 15 m/s.
i would create a mini-mod and add it to your config last...so that you can back it out and adjust it if you need to.
