I've got Kpt. Lehmann's cell on my speed dial so if the 100+ mps storm winds rip my house apart, I'll call for rescue.

Stay safe Neal.

I wouldn't be surprised if Subsim is down some time this weekend.

Good luck guys. I'm in Baton Rouge, and got my power back last Saturday after Gustav. My brother lives in Houston, so my thoughts and prayers are with you.

My sister is in Houston, Neal. She is riding it out. However, she booked a room further inland if the power is out for days. This storm is over 700 miles wide. It is pushing a lot of sea water. I think we can predict some of the coast is going under. Busy as hell with FEMA today and will be tonight. For Saturday we wait out the storm and then all hell breaks loose on Sunday for clean up and supplies. Ain't we got fun?

Yea stay safe all Texas Subsimmers. I used to have a relative who lived in San Antonio, I've heard stories of floods and stuff.

Yep, we can pretty much kiss Galveston goodbye if the surge is over 17 feet. The surge wall is only 17 feet in Galveston. 700 miles of storm is pushing a hell of a lot of ocean.

I'm watching the news and there's already some homes on the beach being washed away in Surfside (about 20 miles south down the coast from Galveston). I wouldn't be surprised to see some major damage in Galveston and Freeport.

Getting pretty breezy here on the west side of Houston. This afternoon should be fun.

On a side note...nothing on the Subsim.com homepage about Ike even though you are "looking down the barrel"?

I seriously hope that you are getting your butt out of there Neal. Where exactly in Galveston is your house?

The traffic is low on the main roads. These Traffic cams could come in handy for an escape route.
