TWoS has a package called 'Compatible Additional mods'. From this package load the 'TWoS UI cmd_Radio Reports_Auto Target ID'.
For identifiying ships:
It's the Weapon Officer icon third from left, then first icon on the left, then again 1st icon on the left. You must have selected target first with SPACE. This is when you play manual TDC. With Auto TDC you must first switch to manual TDC to identify.
To be able to switch from Auto to Manual and back, you must set this in the OptionFileEditorViewer, it's not set by default IIRC.
