Default Changing where a sub's sound files are located. A Linux compatibility problem.

Hello everyone.

I am trying to get Sub Command (and Dangerous Waters too) to work under Linux using Wine. For those who don't know, Wine is Windows compatibility layer for Linux which allows you to run programs that were originally intended for Windows. It is like an emulator.

For whatever reason Wine does not play nicely with Sub Command's sound files. The result is that no sounds can be heard during gameplay. This can be remedied for the main sfx.agg by extracting the wav's from it and placing them in a directory called "sfx.agg+". You then delete or rename the original sfx.agg. The result of this is that all the sounds stored in the main sfx.agg can be heard during gameplay.

The problem with all this is that this trick only works on the main sfx.agg. The sfx.agg's that are specific to vehicles cannot be tricked this way. I have no idea why.

My main question is: What files do I have to edit so that Sub Command will look for vehicle specific sounds in the main sfx.agg rather than the sfx.agg located in that vehicles Interface directory?

Also I will need to know what programs/utilities I can use to make these changes.

If I am able, with the community's help, to get sound working properly in Sub Command under Linux then I think we might be one step closer to getting Dangerous Waters to work as well.

I look forward to any help or advice.
